Spinning & Weaving Week Giveaway!

October 4 - 10 is Spinning & Weaving Week, an international celebration of "the traditions and the future of our fiber arts and crafts." The Handweavers Guild of America encourages all spinners, weavers, dyers and basketweavers to get involved with demonstrations, exhibits and classes. What a great idea!

This year, in honor of Spinning & Weaving Week, Strauch Fiber Equipment Company is having a contest.  One lucky winner will get a $25 gift certificate that they can use with any of our dealers toward the purchase of any Strauch Fiber product.

Here's how to enter:

• Post a reply to this blog entry with the name of the Strauch dealer that you'd like to use the gift certificate with AND tell us which Strauch Product you'd like to use the certificate for. You'll find our dealer list on our website, as well as lots of information about our various products.
• You can also go to our Facebook page, and reply to the contest posting with the name of the dealer, and the product you'd like to buy.

One entry per person, per venue (blog and/or Facebook) for a total of two possible entries per person. All entries will be placed in some sort of container and the winner will be drawn using our highly scientific and technical method which usually involves a cat. Or perhaps a pony. Or some chickens. We haven't narrowed down that detail just yet.

Contest ends at midnight EST on October 10. We'll announce the winner on Monday, October 11.

Off to Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival

The truck is loaded and we're ready to head on up to Maryland for the big weekend! We've been busy making drum carders, ballwinders, swifts, handcards and accessories all spring, so we'll have a nice supply with us.

We're having a Md. S&W giveaway!

Our table will be set up in the Carolina Homespun booth in the Main Exhibition Hall and we'll be demonstrating there most of the time. Web Launch Give-Away!

The new Strauch Fiber Equipment Company website has just been launched and we're so excited about it we want to give something away! The crafty ladies at Strauch Fiber, got together to make up this excellent and very cheerful prize package:

Joanne Strauch created and printed a set of four note cards - three are her own block printed design, and one she hand stamped.

Lawre (who some of you may know from her own business, Lawre's Laine) added a set of four hand-made Beaded Stitch Markers to the prize pack.

And Liz, your blog hostess, contributed a 200 yd skein of handspun merino wool, made famous on our NEW website!

Sedalia Spring Fiber Festival

I'm happy to announce that we've added another show to our 2010 world tour! I'll be demonstrating Strauch Drum Carders at the Sedalia Spring Fiber Festival in Big Island Virginia on May 15.

You'll find me at the Misty Mountain Farm booth, and with my pal, and co-worker, Lawre at the Lawre's Laine booth throughout the day.

Learn about carding fiber, try out our machines, and don't forget to enter the special raffle for the Petite Drum Carder! We've partnered with the Sedalia Center to offer this really special prize.

We have a winner!

And the Winner is... Using a very scientific method involving little pieces of paper and a cat, we drew Wendi W's number - she was #27 in our Facebook friends list at the time of the drawing. We'll be sending her a Strauch Flicker.
