We had a white week-before-Christmas in the mountains of Virginia. The foot and a half of snow didn't keep us out of the shop though, as we built fun fiber toys for all you good girls and boys. I hope you all got your packages in good time and have been spending your days carding and winding to your hearts content!
We always have fun here at Strauch Fiber, but especially at the holidays. This year we had a really great party at Sal's, a fabulous Italian restaurant. The food and the service were excellent. They gave us a little room all to ourselves so that we and our families could relax and have a great time. Otto and Joanne gave us really neat gifts - framed photos of buildings and objects that spelled out our names. I handed out scrapbooks of our summer outing at Smith Mountain Lake, and there were a few other wee gifties as well.
Not content with just one party - like I said, we like to have fun! - we also had a party on our last day of work before the Christmas break. Carol brought some excellent treats: sausage balls, ham biscuits, and cookies. Lawre brought her famous gingerbread, which survived a close encounter with one of my dogs. I brought some homemade (not by me) toffee and candy canes. We snacked all day, and after lunch we had another little party. Joanne gave Lawre & me cool t-shirts, and everyone else got fabulous alpaca socks. Then we presented O & J with our Christmas gift to them - which we all had a hand in making. (insert photo here). I think they liked it :-)
I hope you all had a great holiday and are ready for some fiber fun in 2010. Until next time, here are some instructions for making a yarn snowman with your own ball winder.
